Vertical Tank Armour Distance Modifier Testing
Some Vertical Tanks have armour characteristics which alter the effective distance of weapons fired against them. This "distance modifier" decreases the "in-range" distance of the majority of weapons (see additional notes). The Advanced Armour optional part can also add an additional 200m of armour modifier value to any VT on which it is equipped.
Example: A 315-SB has a normal effective range of 0 - 800 meters. If fired at a Behemoth, the distance modifier of the front armour (300 meters) would require that the attacking VT be within 500 meters for the weapon to have any effect.
This would explain why certain small calibre weapons with minimal ranges (like chainguns) have no effect on heavily armoured VT models, except from the back (and sides).

Additional Notes
- Distance Modifier values do not affect indirect fire weapons (artillery, napalm, guided mortars).
- Distance Modifier values do not apply to mines (AVTM.)
- Melee weapons are not affected by Distance Modifier armour values.
- Proximity fused weapons (GND, T-GND and 77-REC) are not affected by Distance Modifier armour values.
- Shield Binder values are only applicable when the Shield is deployed and apply instead of the Front value. The Shield will offer no additional protection when stowed.
- The Optional Armour modules on the Prominence M2 do not affect the Distance Modifier value, only the hull durability.
