Vertical Tanks are the combat platforms of choice for the Hai Shi Dao island conflict. The purchase of VT models is specific to a given faction, but may be traded or captured by other faction pilots.

Generally optimised for long-distance engagements and coordinated team strike strategies. Hai Shi Dao forces field more support artillery platforms than all other factions combined. Conversely, the majority of their VTs are not suited to close quarters melee combat (with the notable exception of the Garpike).

Pacific Rim Forces VTs are generally designed to be used in direct frontal close-combat engagements or in high-speed hit and run tactics. This faction fields the greatest number of melee weapon equipped VTs, including the Plasma Torch and the Stun Rod. PRF also have the greatest number of railgun capable VTs.

The Right Brothers specialise in guerilla warfare tactics and field some of the most specialised and unique VTs. Torque profiles are very good for nearly all the VTs in this faction. Nearly all of their VTs may mount the Marker Launcher and they are the only faction which has the Sheepdog electronic reconnaissance VT.

Jaralaccs Mercenary Forces primarily field Heavy class VTs, all of which are very durable and well armed. Excepting the Jaralaccs N, all of these VTs are equipped with fixed mount melee weapons which do tremendous damage. These VTs may be taken into solitary combat roles with confidence.
