The Jaralaccs platform was originally designed to be an artillery support VT for the Pacific Rim Forces. Unfortunately, WM shelved the project when Komatsu L.S. was unilaterally awarded the contract to supply the
Decider Volcanic, a VT whose troubled parentage resulted in a mediocre performance on the battlefield. With the introduction of second generation VT technology, WM revisited their support design, with the intent to make it one of the first heavy class assault VTs put into mass production. WM decided to create two variants of the Jaralaccs platform, The
Jaralaccs C, optimised for close-range combat, and the Jaralaccs N for long-range engagements and support mount weaponry.
The Jaralaccs N retains more of its support heritage than does its sibling C model. It has the ability to mount both the 305-HW howitzer and the HVM-LA missile options, as well as an assortment of medium to short range defensive weaponry. Designed as a Heavy class VT, it has respectable mobility, torque and durability for its size. The Jaralaccs Ns destructive potential is unmatched at its price point except by the Jaralaccs C model.
Jaralaccs models are fielded almost exclusively by mercenary factions. Their durability and self-sufficiency make them the ideal tools for independent soldiers of fortune. The first documented encounter with a Jaralaccs N model occured during the amphibious landing of combined PRF and mercenary forces against the Lan Chi Do Coastal Defenses in January 2085. Several Jaralaccs N units provided support artillery and focused missile attacks against defending Hai Shi Dao forces, resulting in their eventual retreat and the PRF capture of the beach head fortress.
Field Notes
"They fight for us, well for today at least." (unknown HSD captain, March 2084)
The Jaralaccs N may be considered the "Swiss Army Knife" of the 2nd generation VT class as it may be outfitted to perform a number of combat roles. If configured with the HVM-LA and 305-HW, the Jaralaccs N is a very effective support role VT, which unlike true support VTs actually has an effective close range arsenal. Removing the howitzer allows the fitting additional missile launchers, which lets the Jaralaccs N become a "missile boat" unit capable of exhausting an enemies chaff supplies with greater ammunition. At close range, the machine gun and flamethrower options are weaker than a dedicated melee weapon like the Cutter Boom, but are still effective at wearing down already weakened opponents.
The Jaralaccs N is a good choice for support pilots who transfer over to the Jaralaccs Mercenary faction after Turn 5. It offers many of the same capabilities, but without the limited numbers of the
Maelstrom or
Behemoth, or the minimal durability of the
Vortex. In particular, the Jaralaccs N is the only general release VT that allows the fielding of the
HVM-LA, a very effective weapon if used properly. Another item of note is the fact that the Jaralaccs N may take the Marker Launcher (like the C model). When combined with the 305-HW, this allows the Jaralaccs N to "self mark" its own targets for artillery support, making for a very effective, self-contained support chassis.
Generally, the Jaralaccs N is more effective in outdoor missions with hilly or swampy terrain, much like a support role VT. Be careful not to take loadouts that are too specific to long range combat as this makes the VT very weak (and expensive to lose) up close.

This loadout takes the VT right up to STANDARD weight and gives it a decent close range defense as well as an indirect support fire howitzer option.

This loadout drops some of the close range defensive power in favour of a long distance striking option in the form of the HVM-LA. Using the loadout I would recommend using the DP-MIS to "spam" the SHOT warning of a target with the intention of making the target waste battery power slidestepping, then follow up with an HVM-LA salvo.

This loadout should only be taken when coordinated with teammates as it is very specialised and requires some very specific timing to use effectively. The concept here is to overwhelm the slidestepping capability of a target by constantly swapping between the two racks of HVM-LA. Doing so will nearly halve the time between salvoes. Unfortunately the VT will be overloaded (OVER STANDARD) and have few defensive weapons should attackers approach. Only recommended when used in conjunction with cohesive team strategy.
