TACTICAL SIGNIFIGANCE
As the battle for the Sha Wan Hills raged on, Hai Shi Dao forces prepared to repel an attack on Outpost 8 by PRF reinforcement units. Outpost 8 was the only remaining supply center for the Hai Shi Dao forces in the south-eastern coastal area, losing it would result in the Pacific Rim Forces establishing an unshakeable foothold on the island. HSD defenders had the advantage of elevation, but the ferocity of the imminent attack could not be overstated. HSD strategists chose to tier their defensive lines to take advantage of the PRF VTs torque rating weakness.
MISSION PROFILE
Outpost 8 is structured as a two tiered pyramid/ziggurat type structure. Attackers start at the far eastern edge of the map, but the flat plain leading up to the first slope can be quickly traversed in WHEEL mode. Defenders start from a good vantage point, and if properly deployed can spot attacking forces well before they begin their first slope climb.
Defenders are disadvantaged on this map because of the numerous approaches available to attacking forces and the limitations of typically having only three team members per side. Defense of the main top base is possible, but it only needs to be captured once to end the mission as a win for the attackers.
Defender Objective: Eliminate attacking enemy VTs, prevent the capture of the main base in B-2.
Attacker Objective: Eliminate defending VTs, capture of the central base in B-2.
Possible Non-VT Targets
B299 Bomber (+10pts)
F-57 Viper Fighter (+10pts)

This mission is unbalanced against defending forces due to large area required to defend and the singular base capture objective for attackers. |
