TACTICAL SIGNIFIGANCE
Still stinging from the numerous losses incurred in the defense of the Sha Wan Hills and Jian Da City, the remaining Hai Shi Dao forces staged a combat withdrawal to their mountain fortress at Highland 33. For the first time, Pacific Rim Forces were forced to fight a much more prepared and strategically placed opponent.
The retreating HSD defenders were further reinforced by the arrival of the HSD 19th Vertical Tank Battalion, "Intrepid Javelins" Special Weapons, primarily composed of sniper rifle equipped Scare Face units. Backed into a corner, Hai Shi Dao commanders prepared to show their PRF assailants what a dangerous foe they were about to engage.
MISSION PROFILE
The basic terrain of this mission is all steep hill approaches and tight canyon corridors. The "mountain" actually sits on a peninsula of land surrounded on three sides by deep water. Highland 33 favours defenders willing to use strategy and teamwork to play purely defensive tactics against terrain challenged opponent. The steep hill approaches from the east, south and west can all be watched and still have sufficient time to redeploy defenders to meet attacking forces.
Attackers have a choice between several start points, all but one of which are rather distant from the objective hill approaches. The western attacker start base is relatively close to the western approach corridor, but intelligent defenders will often deploy artillery to deter this tactic. The lowland flat areas are extensive, but do not usually figure into the outcome of this mission.
Defender Objective: Eliminate attacking enemy VTs, prevent the capture of the main base in C-1.
Attacker Objective: Eliminate defending VTs, capture of the central base in C-1.
Possible Non-VT Targets
none
