TACTICAL SIGNIFIGANCE
Despite the tenacious resistance of the defending Hai Shi Dao forces in the Sha Wan Hills, the Pacific Rim Forces decided to initiate a new front in their island invasion. Pushing west along the coastal flats, PRF encountered their first real resistance at the mouth of the Dong Lai River, home to the HSD 42nd Vertical Tank Battalion, in neighbouring Jian Da City. The Hai Shi Dao defenders knew that, if lost, the deep water port of Jian Da would allow Pacific Rim Forces to land more reinforcements. The stakes were high for both sides.
MISSION PROFILE
The Dong Lai river forms a natural barrier between the defender and attacker sides of this map. The river may only be crossed via the bridge, or in the shallow section of the river (lighter area). Attempting to cross in the deeper water section will result in VT loss. Water crossings in the northern river section take additional time and may present an opportunity for defending support VTs to destroy attacker VTs in the water with no chance to escape.
The defender city buildings are worth 3 points each, with a total of 477 points available (3pts x 159 buildings). Every building destroyed debits points from the defender Sortie Point total. Attackers which reach the city can rapidly deplete the Sortie Point total of the defending team if left unaddressed.
Defender Objective: Eliminate attacking enemy VTs, prevent the destruction of the city buildings.
Attacker Objective: Eliminate defending VTs, destruction of the city buildings.
Possible Non-VT Targets
City Buildings (-3pts from defender sortie)
