Ranking Structure
Steel Battalion: Line of Contact uses a system of ranks which are achieved by gaining experience quantified in the form of Command Points. Command Points are awarded by participation in missions, with a mission win earning more points than a mission loss. In the event of a mission loss, a player is still awarded 5,000 "participation bonus" points. Achieving kills on enemy VTs in a mission will add additional Command Points, conversely, hitting team mates with friendly fire will result in a reduction in earned Command Points.
The ranks within Steel Battalion: Line of Contact are as follows:

Additional Notes
The only exception to the rank increase rule is through the usage of a rare optional part called a Generals Inspection. Equipping the part during a mission will result in the players rank increasing to the next available level without the Command Points requirement. After a single use the part disappears from the players hangar inventory of optional parts.
