TACTICAL SIGNIFIGANCE
The Lao Tsu military research facility had already figured very prominently in the history of the war after the incident surrounding the development of the Juggernaut platform and the theft of several top secret designs. Despite those setbacks, the base was still one of the most advanced research facilities under Hai Shi Dao control. Lycoming D.S. continued development of new VT technologies with the hope of giving HSD an edge in the now two-front war.
This development did not go unnoticed by the opposing factions, and the base was the target of numerous covert raids and sabotage attacks throughout the remainder of the conflict.
MISSION PROFILE
The second underground fotress mission is unique within the game as being the only Container objective map in the set. As with all the fortress missions, the playable area is very small when compared to outdoor maps. Although subterranean, this mission does feature dim lighting in all corridors, which makes it easier to navigate than previous fortress missions. The central container room is the main arena for battles, with the adjoining corridors often being used as chokepoints to concentrate sniper fire on attackers.
After one side has picked up the container, it must be delivered intact to the scoring platform. This can be difficult to do as a single shot from an enemy VT will cause the container to explode, returning it to the central container room.
