Game Overview and Specifications
Steel Battalion: Line of Contact is an online multiplayer mechanised combat simulator game for the Microsoft XBox console. The game was developed by Nudemaker Studios and published by Capcom. Within the game, the player is in control of a 2 story tall bipedal armoured combat platform known as a Vertical Tank. Players pilot their Vertical Tank using a 40 button, dual control stick surface and 3 pedal foot controller which was specifically designed for the game. Additional menu controls are provided for via a standard XBox controller plugged into a second controller port. The standard controller also allows for the connection of an XBox Live® communicator headset, vital for team communication and coordination. Teams of up to five players per side face off during a hypothetical future conflict set in the year 2084. This game is about the most realistic and immersive mech combat simulator you will ever find, in or out of an arcade setting. Steel Battalion: Line of Contact is multiplayer only, there are no offline single player campaign or training missions. The environment supposed by the game takes place in a fictional future where the primary weapons of choice are walking mechanised vehicles called Vertical Tanks. The ongoing conflict takes place on the island of Hai Shi Dao, often referred to as Ocean City Island. Loosely following the history of the original Steel Battalion game, the faction of Hai Shi Dao (HSD) has once again seceeded from the general governmental body of the Pacific Rim Forces (PRF) after a period of civil and political unrest. The PRF have now come to invade the island and put down the rebellion. During the course of the conflict, two other factions are introduced, the Right Brothers and the Jaralaccs Mercenary Forces. The Right Brothers (RB) are described as a separatist guerilla group from the northern provinces of Hai Shi Dao and do not agree with either the HSD or PRF doctrines. The Jaralaccs Mercenary Forces (JAR) are soldiers of fortune, hiring their services out to the highest bidder and not above fighting each another if sided against one another in interfaction battles.
